Supporting Local Communities
BWI believes in supporting locally-initiated projects. Our goal is to work with local leaders, educators, and artists who intimately understand the needs of their community. We work together to strengthen existing psychosocial support, co-facilitate healing art workshops, and develop artistic collaborations to cultivate healing, strengthen grassroots efforts, and highlight the dignity and humanity of refugees.
Providing Psychosocial Support
BWI builds bridges between artists, therapists, and local communities to provide context-specific support, training, and resources that can be adapted and replicated through a “train-the-trainer” model. We co-facilitate healing arts workshops with our partner organizations and provide humanitarian workers with the tools they need to improve their knowledge, resilience, and mental health.
Healing through the Arts
We believe the arts are a powerful tool for hope, healing, and connection. The arts are proven to transcend language and cultural barriers as they transform anxiety, depression, fear, and anger into positive expression, heightened self-esteem, and self-empowerment. We strive to create space for storytelling, creative expression, and healing through our local partners, and for refugee artists around the globe.
